Col Yogander Singh comes from a farmer-soldier family of village Bhadani in Jhajjar district of Haryana (India). He is a widely revered scholar in the field of military history, organisational restructuring and social development. An alumnus of Government College, Jhajjar and the Indian Military Academy, Dehradun, he was commissioned as an officer in the Indian Army in 1980. He has served in all the operational areas of India, including the world’s highest battlefield ‘Siachen Glacier’ and terrorism/insurgency affected areas. Besides, he has carried out several challenging combat and administrative assignments earning accolades in every field of his activities. Early in his career as a Company commander, he was honoured with the award of ‘Chief of the Army Staff Commendation Card in recognition of his highly commendable performance in the most challenging operational area.
Gifted with high intellect and a research-oriented mind, he has authored three books on military history and organisational restricting of the Indian Army. Many of his articles on similar subjects have been published in various periodicals and journals from time to time.
